Episode 24 – Christmas Time

As the nights draw in and it’s getting colder, it’s time for Antoinette and Oliver to talk about Christmas. We hope you snuggle down in the armchair with your slippers on and a warm jumper and maybe even a hot chocolate in your hands, while we talk about our favourite games for the holidays.

    Merry Christmas!

I find restricted communication games very difficult: to say nothing at all is fine, full communication is fine, but when they say “you can communicate as much as you like but you may not tell other players what your cards are”… so what can I say then? I really prefer it when, as in Hanabi, it’s explicit what you can say when.

I’m still tempted by Xia, with the upcoming relaunch. But I already have all of Firefly, and I’m worried it might be too similar in gameplay.

I recommend playing by the Codenames Pictures rules with Mysterium cards.

Merry Christmas to you too, Roger. Thank you for your comment. Limited communications can be a bit difficult, but I guess you just have to make it your own game and decide what you want to allow as a group and what not. I don’t know Xia or Firefly, but if you’re happy with Firelfy, then you might as well stick with that. Also thank you for recommending Codenames Pictures using Mysterium cards. That sounds like a cool idea.
